High Pressure Diaphragm Pumps

About Wanner

hydra cell pumps – Wanner is a global pump supplier with over 40 years experience and accumulated expertise in manufacturing unique, heavy duty, seal-less diaphragm pumps. These Hydra-Cell® pumps provide outstanding performance and reliability, proven in some of the toughest industrial equipment and process applications across almost every industry!

Designed, developed and manufactured entirely by Wanner in the US, these Hydra-Cell seal-less positive displacement pumps are renown for virtually pulse-less, accurate pumping in both low and high pressure applications. They are unique in having multiple diaphragms in a single pump head that enables exceptionally smooth liquid flow.

THE HYDRA-CELL PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION

Based on either a wobble plate design or the crankshaft principle, all Hydra-Cell pumps have hydraulically balanced diaphragms. The diaphragms face only a minimal pressure differential regardless of the pressure at which liquid is being delivered. Each diaphragm has its own pumping chamber that contains an inlet and discharge self-aligning disk check valve assembly.

As the diaphragms move back, liquid enters the pump through a common inlet and passes through one of the inlet check valves. On the forward stroke, the diaphragm forces the liquid out of the discharge check valve and through the manifold common outlet. These diaphragms operate sequentially to provide consistent, low-pulse flow.

HYDRA-CELL® SEAL-LESS DIAPHRAGM PUMPS

Hydra-Cell is a range of unique seal-less, positive displacement diaphragm pumps, manufactured by Wanner. With up to five diaphragms in a single pump head, Hydra-Cell pumps are equally suited to both high and low pressure applications and provide a virtually pulseless flow of liquid.

Hydra-Cell pumps are highly efficient, heavy-duty pumps for liquid transfer, metering and dosing, injection and spraying of the widest range of liquids, including chemicals, solvents, acids, hydrocarbons, natural gas liquids, alkalis, polymers, aqueous ammonia, resins, slurries, wettable powders, shear sensitive liquids, recycled or dirty liquids and can even handle abrasive liquids without suffering damage.

Hydra-Cell Advantages

The multiple pumping elements & seal-less design distinguishes the Hydra-Cell® pumps from other reciprocating pumps and is the basis of its long service life. Pumps with dynamic seals rely on the pumped liquid for seal lubrication yet many of these liquids can be harmful to pump seals. Pumps with single pumping elements generate hydraulic vibrations, requiring greater pump and system maintenance.

The seal-less nature of the Hydra-Cell pumps enables liquids containing particles to be processed without the need for fine filtration and very low viscosity liquids to be pumped successfully.

Hydra-Cell pumps need little maintenance and can operate at continuous duty at low or high pressure. Hydra-Cell pumps require no expensive and time consuming seal maintenance, special tools or equipment to service the pump.

Compact and highly efficient (80-92%) no matter what the liquid is, a Hydra-Cell pump can be fitted with a smaller motor than would be required by many other pump technologies for equivalent flows and pressures.

The multiple pumping elements mean that pulsation is very low, so dampeners are not required in 99% of metering and dosing applications.

Pumping chamber is 100% sealed so chemicals sensitive to exposure to air or moisture are not degraded and hazardous chemicals are totally contained, eliminating any environmental issues.

Hydra-Cell pumps can handle solids up to 500 microns, or more depending on the model. They can handle non-lubricating liquids and those containing abrasive particles that destroy other pump technologies. Hydra-Cell pumps do not require fine filtration and with no dynamic seals, even sub 10 micron particles can be handled reliably.

Cast Iron to Hastelloy and a wide range of elastomers all ensure the most cost effective solution is found.

Hydra-Cell pumps can run dry indefinitely without damage.

This unique feature of hydra-cell pumps

  1. Keeps the diaphragm safe if the suction line is closed accidently
  2. Ensures incredible accuracy in metering and dosing applications

Discharge flow rate can be controlled to meet or exceed API 675 performance characteristics in terms of:

  • Steady state accuracy better than +/-1%
  • Linearity better than +/- 3%
  • Repeatability better than +/- 3%
