Dimethylcyclohexylamine is a common catalyst used in the production of rigid foam insulation. As with other specialty chemicals, it can weaken elastomeric diaphragms of the pump used to inject it into a polyurethane system.
Working in cooperation with a Hydra-Cell® distributor, a model D04/G04 with new PTFE diaphragms was placed at a beta site test for a manufacturer.
After five weeks, the Hydra-Cell pump was inspected and the diaphragms showed no signs of fatigue, stress or chemical attack. The manufacturer was then anxious to purchase the pump, and the Hydra-Cell D04/G04 has been running faultlessly ever since.
